Chongwei Runrun Wong has over 10 years of investment in early stage venture capital and hedge fund investment, specialising in early stage investment due diligence in technology companies, business development, investment portfolio management and fund governance.
Chongwei Runrun Wong currently serves as Managing Director of Empiricus Capital Management, early stage investment in startups that applies exponential technology to a scalable business model with potential for important social impact to public health focusing on the population and markets of the Greater Bay Area, with local offices and labs in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. He is also Managing Director of Lee Kwong Investment, a property holding company based in Hong Kong, and Managing Director of Ascent Investment Limited, a property investment company.
Prior to Empiricus Capital Management, Chongwei served as Fund Director and Head of Business Development for Vegasoul Capital Management. Between January 2010 to November 2011, Chongwei managed Vegasoul's capital raising where AUM grew from USD 90 million to over USD 390 million. At Vegasoul, he conducted portfolio optimization research since 2007, during which he focused on portfolio construction methodology across a portfolio of trading strategies employed in 110 product markets in 17 exchanges. Prior to Vegasoul, between March 2008 and January 2010, Chongwei lead quantitative portfolio investment research as Deputy Portfolio Manager at Fairwind SA, a USD 2 billion Geneva-based family office, where he developed its proprietary portfolio optimization model and responsible for the active management of a USD$ 450 million fund of hedge funds portfolio of 43 managers with Professor Andrea Buraschi, CIO, and Chair of Finance at Imperial College Business School.
Chongwei received his BA in Economics at Cornell University, and MPhil/PhD in Finance at the University of Cambridge. He is also visiting instructor for the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) program at Peking University and Yale University between 2012 and 2015. Chongwei joined as Board Advisor for Spire Global, a nano-satellite company since November 2016.
Jason has over 6 years of investment manager experience across early stage start up, real estate, hedge fund and global equities. Jason specialise in due diligence and financial modelling of investments candidates. Prior to Empiricus, Jason was Trading Execution Manager at Vegasoul Capital Management, where he developed operational experience as trading operations assistant responsible for firm's trading system and execution technology operation. Jason received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst).
Zoe is responsible for Empiricus operation across Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, where she manages human resources and office development. Prior to Empiricus, Zoe was HSBC business development analyst in Guangzhou, where she is responsible for client services and relations. Zoe received her undergraduate degree in Education and English at Zhongshan University.
Executive and Administrative Manager
Christina leads the administrative work across family office corporate entities. Christina has over 20 years in aviation industry leading training programs across various aviation companies. Christina is responsible for all executive and administrative management.
